Story
The partnership between Toveks Mary Lou and Henrik von Eckermann was ignited by Karl Schneider, who had found Mary Lou in Germany and had competed her himself up to 1.45m level. But he knew that the potential was far greater, he just needed the right man in the saddle. At that moment, the German had just opened his doors to Henrik von Eckermann who had decided to set up his own business as a next step after many successful years under the wings of Ludger Beerbaum.
Already from the very first jump, the perfect storm was created. She grew into the highest level much faster than expected, jumping her first 1.60m class after 2 months of partnership, ending both, the Helsinki World Cup and Grand Prix, on just 4 faults. After just a little more than 3 years’ time Toveks Mary Lou would be remembered as one of the fastest and most competitive horses at the highest level show jumping, worldwide.
On the indoor World Cup circuit she took gold on 3 World Cups and finished on the podium of another 3. She was 3rd in both, the Paris World Cup final and the Omaha World Cup final, where she won the final class. Outdoors she finished 4th in the technical and tight Grand Prix of Monaco. But, she just as easily adapted to the massive Aachener Soers where she jumped double clear in the Nations Cup and led Sweden to the victory. She won the Windsor Grand Prix in Great-Britain and finished 2nd in Valence and Dinard. On the Rolex circuit she won Den Bosch and was 2nd in Geneva.
As if nothing was too much for the mare, Toveks Mary Lou herself was awarded the silver medal at the Europeans in Gothenburg and at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon.
In the span of those 3 years no other horse in the world was as successful as Toveks Mary Lou.
