Just Me D is the last daughter of the highly influential mare Nistria de Lauzelle. Nistria herself is bred by Frans Hemeryck and leads you right into the successful families of Haras de Lauzelle, Haras de Laubry and Haras du Ri d’Asse. Of all these great stud farms, Nistria is the crown jewel. She gave 10 sons and daughters of which 4 competed at 1.60m level and 2 at 1.50m. Nowadays this is no longer a surprise but Nistria did it without embryo flushing or ICSI. She carried all foals herself and they were all born at the fruit farm of Pierre Vanderlinden.

When his 2nd foal out of Nistria showed some talent, he asked the son of his colleague fruit farmers to have a feel on his mare, named Tekila D. This pairing would grow into one of the most successful Junior and Young Rider combinations in history. When it was considered that Tekila D had reached the limits at the Young Rider European Championships she put in the extra effort. She went on to win the Copenhagen CSIO Grand Prix and she finished 2nd in the Hickstead CSIO Grand Prix and the Antwerp Grand Prix. She won the Grand Prix of Ghent, was 3rd in the Nations Cup of Lummen and 4th in the Mechelen World Cup. Preciously produced and highly respected she fought her way through all possible ranks of national and international sport with a rider who was only learning the ropes himself. She was the first world-class horse of Pieter Devos. Tekila D, who was born in 1996 has produced 3 horse at 1.45m and higher.

A few years after Tekila, Nistria gave Belem D by Toulon who jumped at 1.50m level with Bertrand Darier and one year later she gave Chai D who did the same with Luis Sabino Gonçalves. The next son of Nistria was Echo D, a gorgeous gelding by Orlando, who was again paired to Pieter Devos. Together they travelled to Aachen and Spruce Meadows before Echo joined Lacey Gilbertson who scored big successes in The Hamptons, Tryon and Wellington. Next in line was Gin D, by Clinton. He was produced by Caroline Devos-Poels and Pieter Devos and with the latter Gin won the Grand Prix of Knokke and he finished 2nd in the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona. Gin D moved across the Dutch border to Bart Bles and with the Dutchman Gin scored even more impressive results. He was 3rd in the big Madrid LGCT Grand Prix, he won the 2020 Global Champions League stage in Valkenswaard and he was double clear in The Prize of Europe in Aachen.

The last offspring of Nistria is Just Me D. This large mare by Cicero Z again went on to compete at the highest level and scored top results with both Wouter Devos, Pieter Devos and Caroline Devos-Poels. Just Me D may have stood in the shadow of Pieter Devos’ top horses when they dominated international showjumping but she was at all times available and ready to go. In the meanwhile she produced her first offspring with her eldest, at the age of 8, jumping at 1.45m level. 2 of her sons are already approved as stallions and her daughter Casual DV Z is considered an outstanding talent. The success rate of this family in producing Grand Prix horses is truly special.
